Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q does Texas barbecue and general store goods on IH 35 in Kyle, the way Mack "Doc" Holiday built it in 1989.
Buy lunch and a bag of nails in the same visit — that's the Rudy's idea, and the Kyle store off I-35 runs it: a working country shop wrapped around an oak pit. Brisket, ribs and sausage by the pound, the Sause on the table, open early to late seven days. The chain grew from a 1929 Leon Springs filling station that took up barbecue in 1989.
