Rudy's brings Texas barbecue and a country store to Gilbert, wood-fired and unhurried.
The Gilbert Rudy's on Higley Road opens at six and means it — oak pits going early for a chain built on a country-store-meets-gas-station format. Rudolph Aue started the original in Leon Springs in 1929; barbecue joined in 1989. Order brisket, ribs and sausage by the pound, and don't skip the creamed corn.
