Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q brings Texas barbecue and a working country store to El Paso's South Desert Boulevard.
Mack "Doc" Holiday built Rudy's in 1989, and the outfit has held to wood-fired oak and the unhurried pace of things done right. This is a barbecue joint that doubles as a country store — the kind of place that knows what it is and doesn't feel the need to explain itself.
Open from 7 a.m. most days (until 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday), it sits on South Desert Boulevard in El Paso's West side. Order at the counter, eat at a table, and move on with your day — or don't. The barbecue will still be there.
