Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q has been smoking oak since 1989, and this El Paso East outpost carries that same wood-fired conviction.
Oak smoke from first light: the Gateway East Rudy's opens early and runs late, part of a Texas chain built on a simple combination — a country store, a gas station, and a barbecue pit. Rudolph Aue's Leon Springs grocery started it in 1929; barbecue arrived in 1989. Brisket, ribs and sausage by the pound, with a bottle of Sause within reach.
