MISSION BBQ — Springfield
The Atlas Review
The BBQ Atlas
MISSION BBQ is what two friends built in 2011 when they decided barbecue and patriotism belonged on the same plate.
This Springfield outpost on Wabash Avenue runs the same playbook as every other MISSION BBQ: fast-casual service, a dining room that honours service members, and a menu built around smoked meats. The brand started in 2011; this location is one of many now.
Open daily for lunch and dinner, closing a half-hour earlier on Sundays. The format is counter-service — order, sit, eat. No frills, just the chain's take on American barbecue delivered at a pace that suits a weekday lunch or a family dinner.
