Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que
The Atlas Review
The BBQ Atlas
Joe's Kansas City does barbecue the way it should be done: no reservations, no nonsense, walk in and order.
Joe's Kansas City operates three locations across the Kansas City area, each one built on the same principle: show up, queue if you must, and eat proper barbecue. The Leawood location sits on Roe Avenue and keeps simple hours — open eleven to nine most nights, ten on weekends, closed Sundays. Walk-ins only. They take the major holidays seriously and close them down entirely.
Kansas City barbecue means burnt ends, ribs, and the kind of meat that doesn't need explaining. Joe's has been doing this since 2012, and the fact that there are now three locations speaks to something: people will drive for it. No reservations means you take your chances, but that's the deal. Get there, wait your turn, eat what they've got. That's the whole thing.
