City Barbeque — Portage
The Atlas Review
The BBQ Atlas
City Barbeque opened its Portage smokehouse in 2026, bringing competition-quality barbecue and the scent of local hickory to South Westnedge Avenue.
The business started in 1999; this outpost is one of many, but the method doesn't change. On-site smokers run low and slow over local hickory, turning out brisket, ribs, and pulled pork the way competition pitmasters do it — with time and smoke, not shortcuts.
It's a smokehouse that happens to have multiple addresses. The Portage location sits on South Westnedge, doing what every City Barbeque does: cook over wood, serve it hot, and let the smoke speak for itself.
